BYF have made a response to the Huntingdon West Area Action Plan:

·         A science or business park would have a damaging effect on character of Brampton

·         Building on this green space would spoil the country feel and green views this side of the village

·         Traffic generated by this type of development would add to the huge number of cars already using Thrapston and Huntingdon Road

·         Route to Hinchingbrooke School and Huntingdon - the effect on the cycle track and pavement

·         Not wish to be part of a town

·         Increased traffic pollution and noise, especially after new A14 and removal of viaduct

·         More car parking for the country park in Brampton would increase traffic, people should be encouraged to walk or cycle to the park

·         A car park would involve cars crossing the cycle path, improving cycle access and bus services is a better solution, and may decrease number of cars from hospital workers

·         Improved access for the disabled should be explored

·         Water from the lakes rise and cause flooding, buildings or cars parked on or near the flood plain will cause problems with drainage in the future, we are aware of the effects of climate change

·         It is not necessary to build on greenbelt land when there are alternatives, RAF Brampton could provide a site for; affordable housing, science & business park facilities without flood risk and without damaging the character of the village. The community could also make use of the existing sports and social facilities on this site

·         A further alternative for business and more housing is Alconbury Airfield

Matters Arising from those Minutes

07/117.1

91.2 – Article to BM on overhanging trees - with NM

NM

07/117.2

92.5 – NM: Belle Isle, inspect for suitable areas for ball games - most grass areas have a fence or wall boundary– only area is by the flats but is adjacent to the road and so unsuitable, alternative area is behind Hansell Road, a triangle area, now overgrown.

Some no ball game signs are already in place and there is already some friction from residents over ball games – timing is not appropriate

07/117.3

Hansell Road potential play area – update – land agent is asking for a more detailed proposal from us so that land owners may consider – sketch plan to Clerk, NM volunteered

NM

07/117.4

95.9 – closure of tip – PD: spoken to manager & to Shire Hall – this tip is privately owned who manage the recycling centre and the landfill – 10yrs ago agreement was drawn up for a domestic recycling facility at an agreed fee – 9yrs later – CCC say fee is excessive and ending the agreement is best way forward and people can use St Neots or Alconbury. Hunts area has 4 domestic recycling sites and 90% of the population live within 7 miles, even if recycling Brampton closes. PD is seeking a case for the Brampton site to stay open based on: -

1.       Recycling here is purpose built & H & S is good (no steps), compared to others

2.       No traffic jams & easier to get to

3.       No sense in closing recycling centres when we are being encouraged to recycle

16 volunteers needed to count no. of vehicles using the site over a number of weeks

Petition launched at village fete last Sat – asks CCC + Waste Recycling company to seek a new agreement – value of recycling material now has a higher value to the management company than when the agreement was first made

PD plans to get substantial support for the petition & present the petition to CCC in Oct

40% recycling goes to landfill, but at St Neots & Alconbury 40% will need transporting back to Brampton, so there is a strong environmental case

07/117.5

96.12 – planning application refused for installation of solar panels, yet these are not visible, clarify with HDC officers - outstanding with PD

07/117.6

96.16 – Public Village Meeting, Thu 19 Jul,  West Area Action Plan – Richard Probyn & Mike Huntington from HDC will be present

99.6 – Litter bin located at the end of West End – this is an HDC bin & on their emptying schedule, our staff have cleared of nettles

07/117.10
