A 65 year old grandma is walking coast to coast and wants people of Cambridgeshire to join her for a 5 mile walk in the county.

will pass through Cambridgeshire on her 600 mile journey from
Granny Beryl will be enjoying the
landscapes of Cambridgeshire 9 – 12 June. She will enter the east of the county
through parishes Kirtling, Stetchworth,
Borough, Great Wilbraham, Teversham
and into the city and then out to the west of the county walking the
She will be in the county on the 8 June for
a Mini Granny Trek, a circular walk organised by Alan Hardy of Castle Camps.
This 5 mile walk will start at the Three Hills pub in Bartlow

Beryl made contact with Rights of Way
Officers at the County Council to help plan her route earlier in the year. The
Granny Trek will start on 28th May and stage 2 of the route will
take Beryl and her dogs from Bury St Edmunds to
“Chris Tucker, Rights of Way Officer, said, “We were pleased to help Beryl plan her Granny Trek route through the county and hope she enjoys the Cambridgeshire countryside on offer, and also hope that local people will support the challenge and join her and Alan on the 8 June for a Mini Granny Trek. “

Beryl wishes for people of any age to join her on her circular walk and hopes to encourage more older people like herself to enjoy an active lifestyle.
Beryl said, “My theme is to get grannies out walking to maintain and improve their health in second childhood, whilst raising money for the comfort of families of children who won’t even reach adulthood. I’ve walked the length of the country and now I’m walking the breadth. Although my main focus is grannies, everyone is welcome to join us on the 8th June and we will have our fundraising bucket available and hope many will feel moved to contribute during our time in Cambridgeshire.”
