BRAMPTON A1 & A14 NON-MOTORISED USER CROSSING CAMPAIGN
Please support our campaign for a Non-Motorised User crossing for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders over the A1
and proposed new A14 . We have asked for this for a long time. As the A1 has been upgraded and got busier over the years
it is now virtually impossible to cross from West End. Such a crossing would open up the countryside again.
We believe it would be used by people from the wider area of Cambridgeshire, as well as locals. With the proposed new A14 now
in consultation it would seem a good time to press our case. We made a good start with a successful meeting with the Highways Agency
and a wide variety of supporters, from local and national organisations. We have been advised that it is now necessary to show
the need for such a crossing by getting evidence of possible usage.
WOULD YOU USE THIS CROSSING? If so please support us by completing our short online Non-Motorised User Crosing Questionnaire.
Help us to re-establish the links to Brampton Wood and also provide a safe crossing for those working at or needing to access Brampton Hut Services by foot or cycle.

HDC - HOUSING AND LAND AVAILABILITY ASSESSMENT
Huntingdonshire District Council has undertaken a Housing Land Availability Assessment which identifies and assesses potential housing
sites within or adjacent to the Market Towns and Key Centres identified in the Core Strategy Submission Document (April 2006).
It also includes a section on rural exception sites within some smaller settlements. The Council is now consulting stakeholders on
the content of this document and asking them to put forward any additional sites which meet the criteria for site identification set out in the methodology.
The Council would also like to ask agents or landowners of sites which have been included to provide any additional information they have regarding the site,
and in particular to provide the likely timeframe for development.

HIGHWAYS AGENCY INTRODUCE REAL TIME TRAFFIC UPDATES
Marking a breakthrough in the way traffic is managed, the Highways Agency has created a new service on England's roads to help manage incidents and keep traffic moving.
In Spring 2004, Highways Agency Traffic Officers began working alongside police on motorways in the West Midlands. This was the start of an England-wide roll out, with traffic officers being introduced across the whole country by the end of 2006.
The Traffic Officer Service puts drivers at the forefront of the Highways Agency's operations to help tackle the growing problems of congestion on our roads.
Highly trained Traffic Officers patrol from distinctive and highly visible Agency vehicles eventually 24hrs per day 7 days a week. You will notice Traffic Officers present and assisting motorists at the following scenes:
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Removing damaged and abandoned vehicles
- Clearing debris on carriageways
- Undertaking high visibility patrols
- Providing mobile/temporary road closures
- Supporting police in their duties
Using information delivered by their traffic officers on the ground, the Highways Agency is developing services to deliver safe roads, reliable journeys and more informed travellers. One of the new services available is:
Traffic England which provides live traffic information updated in real time.

The latest news from the Highways Agency is available on the 'A14 Campaign' top menu link. Currently the interchange is still shown at the end
of Buckden Road. Brampton Parish Councils alternative proposal would see this junction moved to the north side of Brampton Hut. Sited next to the current Brampton Hut services and facilities, we believe that this would be
a more appropriate position for a major road junction.
