Opening of Views Common, Huntingdon
On the morning of Friday 3 September, we will be opening the new Views Common road, the latest of the new roads constructed as part of the scheme in Huntingdon town centre. The road will be open by 6am, following some overnight works.
Views Common will connect to the A1307 (old A14) via a roundabout and provide access to and from Spittals roundabout. Weight restriction signs will be in place in advance of the approach to Views Common to inform drivers of the weight limits in Huntingdon and Godmanchester.
In the photo, you will see there's a footpath that runs along the west side of Views Common. We don't yet have confirmation as to whether we will be able to open this at the same as the road. As soon as we have confirmation one way or the other, we will follow up this email with an update to you all.
We understand the opening of this link road is important to many people within the local community for access to Huntingdon. To confirm the road has opened as planned, we will share a post on via the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet social media page on Friday morning.
We'll continue to update you on our work in Huntingdon town centre as it progresses. You can find more information on our work in Huntingdon here: https://highwaysengland.co.uk/our-work/a14-cambridge-to-huntingdon/huntingdon/
Please note, on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September, B1514 Brampton Road will be closed between 8am and 5pm. This is to complete the expansion joint works in the carriageway that unfortunately we were unable to complete earlier this month. The opening of Views Common will provide resilience to the west of Huntingdon and to Brampton while this closure is in place.
