Police reminding people to #CallWhenItcounts

Cambridgeshire Constabulary call handlers can receive as many as 1,900 calls in just one day.

Many of those calls are reports that could have been resolved using online services. This is why the force are encouraging people to only #CallWhenItCounts, which will reserve call handlers' time on the line for the most serious emergencies.

There are plenty of ways to get in touch with police that do not involve calling. Next time you're about to dial 101, please stop and think: could this issue be submitted using an online report, live web chat or my local council?

Together with Cambridgeshire Constabulary's online services, we can ease the pressure on our call handlers. To launch a live web chat, visit www.cambs.police.uk and click the green 'chat' icon. To submit a report, visit www.cambs.police.uk/report
