Important roadwork information A14 junctions 16 to 17 – drainage work
We recently wrote to inform you of our upcoming plans to carry out drainage work on the A14 between junctions 16 and 17 in both directions. I am writing to inform you of an updated scheduled for these planned works. Once complete, the road will disperse surface water easier and be less prone to flooding.
We plan to start this work on Monday 3 March 2025, and it will last approximately 12 weeks. All work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the work safely, we will require carriageway closures in one direction at a time, between junctions 13 and 21 as follows:
- Monday 3 March to Wednesday 5 March
A14 eastbound between junctions 13 and 21.
- Thursday 6, Friday 7 and Monday 10 March
A14 westbound between junctions 21 and 13.
For drivers travelling westbound you should:
- Take the A1 northbound towards Alconbury
- Continue onto the A1(M) to exit at junction 17
- Take the A605 to Thrapston, before continuing your journey
For drivers travelling eastbound they should follow the diversion above, but in reverse.
Please be advised that there will be additional closures in April and May. We will reach out with further details as we approach them.
There will also be a temporary 50mph speed restriction in place for the duration of the work.
A map of the diversions can be found below.
